Why you will love this chicken naan pizza?

Who says pizza parties are only for weekends? Certainly we don't! Especially when you have this super easy, fast and fun naan pizza recipe.

It's brilliantly simple: Take readymade naan bread (you can even use leftovers!), load on your favorite toppings, and bake. That's it! In just 15 minutes you're ready to serve hot, cheesy, and delicious personal pizzas.

In this recipe we use a vibrant homemade pesto sauce with tender chicken, mozzarella cheese, and ripe cherry tomatoes. It's a classic combination that is perfect with the crisp and chewy naan bread crust.

One of the many wonderful things here is that the recipe is completely customizable! Kids love (but let's be honest - people of all ages!) to pick out and add their own unique toppings... So feel free to mix things up with whatever sauces and goodies you choose or happen to have on hand.

Try this recipe once and I'm sure it will be your go-to crowd pleaser for quick family dinners, relaxing weekend meals, or casual house parties. Let me know what toppings are winners in your house in the comment section below - I'd love to hear from you!

Italian Seasoning: Super simple to make yourself and keep on hand.

How to make a naan pizza?

    Preheat the oven at 400℉.

    1. Place the naan on baking sheet pan and bake for 3-4 minutes until lightly crisp.

    2. Remove from the oven and spread basil pesto evenly on the baked naan breads.

3 pieces of naan on a baking sheet. Each is covered with a layer of green basil pesto.

    3. Top each naan with sliced mozzarella, cooked chicken, cherry tomatoes and sprinkle Italian seasoning.

four steps for how to build homemade pizza on naan bread. 1) Adding slices of mozzarella to 3 pieces of naan with pesto. 2) Adding on shredded cooked chicken. 3) Adding on cherry tomatoes. 4) Final shot before baking.

    4. Transfer the baking sheet pan to the oven. Bake the naan chicken pizza for 10-12 minutes or until cheese has melted and the crust is nice crisp and golden brown.

    5. Remove the pizzas from the oven, top with some fresh basil and /or handful of peppery arugula (optional) and serve.

    FAQ

Can I use pizza base instead of naan to make this recipe?

Yes, you can! Purchase a ready-to-use fresh or frozen pizza dough, and follow the same basic recipe steps.

Naan pizzas cut into triangles on a baking sheet. Sprinkles of fresh basil leaves all around, and small white ramekin of pesto to the side.

    Naan Pizza Topping ideas

Veggies and Fruits: Add your choice of sliced mushrooms, pineapple, peppers, zucchini, corns, olives, roasted veggies, caramelized onions, spinach, kale, broccoli, arugula... You name it!

Sauces: Swap basil pesto with another varieties of pesto like red pepper, sun dried tomato, spinach pesto or any other flavors you like. Alternatively, you can skip the pesto altogether and instead use a classic pizza sauce or creamy Alfredo sauce.

Proteins: You can add to or swap the chicken with other yummy meats! Try this recipe with slices of salami or pepperoni, cooked shrimp, cooked ground sausage, or anchovies. Make it a vegetarian pizza and use cooked pieces of tofu, paneer, or halloumi - or feel free to leave off extra proteins entirely.

Cheeses: Here we use fresh mozzarella, but there are many options for additional or other cheeses! Some other classics include shredded parmesan, cheddar, or crumbled feta or goat cheese.

Vegan Options: Purchase plant-based naan bread and dairy free mozzarella for an easy-peasy vegan recipe.

    Storage & Re-heat

To store leftovers: Let the homemade pizza on naan bread cool before transferring to a container with a lid or plastic storage bag. Keep in the fridge for up to 3 days.

To freeze: It is best to freeze uncooked homemade pizza. Follow the recipe steps to assemble, then freeze on baking sheet pan until frozen - about 1 hour. Wrap in cling wrap or place in ziplock bag and freeze for up to 3 months.

To reheat: Place slices on a baking sheet, and bake at 375F for 5-10 minutes for pizza from the fridge. Bake for 10-15 minutes from frozen.

    Serving Suggestions

Turn chicken and pesto naan crust pizza night into a complete meal with any number of side dishes!

Keep the Italian-inspired flavors going and serve with a classic caprese salad, fresh tomato basil salad, tomato mozzarella salad, or arugula salad (rocket salad).

Or enjoy with more hearty sides like roasted cherry tomatoes, baked tomatoes with cheese, rosemary roasted potatoes or oven roasted vegetables. We also love to keep things casual and pair with french fries or sweet potato fries.
