Is there anything better than sitting outside in a sunny weather and sipping on a glass of your favorite fruit iced tea? At least for me, no, there is not! A glass of cold iced tea with peaches to cool down on hot and sticky days is my thing. (Okay, wait! Sipping on this chilled Watermelon Juice and Honey Lemon Barley Water is also a great way to cool off in this summer heat.)

Officially, we are still in summer months here where I live and ripe peaches are at peak. So, fresh peach recipes like cobbler, salad, crisps, smoothies are happening in my kitchen in full swing, but, this refreshing sweet peach iced tea beverage is on repeat.

Ripe sweet peaches spiked with a hint of lemon when combine with brewed black tea ( or steeped green tea), the result is this refreshing deliciousness . Today, I am sharing my most-loved and easy-peasy fresh peach drink recipe with you all. So, let's get started!

Why you will love this peach tea?

    • This homemade Peach Iced Tea is full of fruity flavor, so refreshing with no bitterness and a perfect summer drink made from scratch.
    • It has no artificial flavor whatsoever! This tasty iced tea is brimming with natural peach flavor.
    • Unlike sugar laden store-bought iced teas, this homemade peach tea is low in sugar making it one of the healthiest summer drink for you.
    • No need to spend those extra bucks to buy peach syrups or concentrates from the store. Fresh homemade peach syrup is the star in this recipe and absolutely the best!
    • It's naturally vegan and gluten free.
    • You can customize the recipe easily to make a big batch for a large crowd.
    • While serving, adding sliced peaches to the glasses gives an extra peachy taste to the drink.
    • Great for occasions like summer cookouts, get-together, holiday or dinner parties.

    Ingredients

This simple yet refreshing iced peach tea recipe requires only 6 ingredients; out of those 6, one is water and the other is fresh mint (for serving). So technically, you need only 4 ingredients to make this peachy beverage at home.

ingredients for peach iced tea measured in bowls and a jar on a grey table
    • Peaches: Use fresh ripe peaches to make delicious and so flavorful cold tea.
    • Sugar: I have used regular granulated sugar to sweeten the tea, feel free to substitute sugar with stevia, honey, maple syrup, or raw cane sugar.
    • Tea: I have used regular loose leaf black tea powder. Feel free to use earl grey, or white tea or even green tea to make this recipe.
    • Lemon: gives refreshing hint to this peach drink.
    • Mint: Add few fresh mint leaves while serving for enhanced flavor.

How to make Peach Iced Tea?

In a high-speed blender jar, add sliced peaches, sugar, lemon juice and 1 cup water. Blend everything together until smooth. Tip : A good high-speed blender just like the one I have used here will give nice and smooth puréed peach for syrup/nectar.

Transfer the prepared peach mixture into a small sauce pan, heat and bring it to a boil. Once the juice boils, simmer for 30 seconds and then take it off the heat, our homemade peach syrup is ready.

Transfer the syrup in a pitcher. NOTE : As my peach syrup was smooth and free from any pulp or peel bits, I have skipped the step of straining it. If your mixture isn't smooth, then, strain the nectar using a fine mesh strainer.

In a medium sauce pan, add the remaining water and bring it to a point when it starts to bubble.

Add tea leaves and bring it to a boil, simmer for 2 minutes only. NOTE: Simmering tea beyond 2 minutes time can make it bitter. However, if you want it to be stronger, add more tea and brew for another 1-2 minutes.

Once brewed, switch off the heat and let it rest for 5-6 minutes. Strain out the tea leaves into the pitcher with syrup, stir and refrigerate.

    FAQs

Can I use canned peaches to make this sweet iced tea?

Yes, absolutely! You can use canned peaches in syrup or 100% juice or water to make this drink. Just that, keep a check on sugar and add it accordingly depending upon the kind of canned peached you are using in this recipe.

Do I need to peel the peaches for this recipe?

Only if it bothers you, peel the peaches and use!

Can I use white tea or green tea to make iced peach tea?

Yes, indeed! You just have to keep in mind to steep white or green tea in hot water and then use, avoid boiling water method here.

    Expert Tips

    • Want to get the purest flavor in your peach iced tea? Avoid using tap water and opt to use filtered water to make this beverage.
    • There is a beautiful thing about this recipe; you can prepare the peach syrup or concentrate in a big batch and store in a clean glass bottle. It stays good up-to 2 weeks in the fridge.
    • You can keep the peach syrup and brewed tea separate for serving. This way you can make your own drink by deciding how much you would like to add the syrup and tea.
    • Always add fresh peach slices to the serving glasses and not the pitcher. This keeps from making the fruit mushy and tea cloudy in the pitcher.

    • 3 Ripe Peaches plus more for serving (pitted and sliced)

    • 2 teaspoons Lemon Juice
    • 8 cups Water (divided)

    Instructions

    • In a high-speed blender jar, add sliced peaches, sugar, lemon juice and 1 cup water. Blend everything together until smooth.
    • Transfer the prepared peach mixture into a small sauce pan, heat and bring it to a boil. Once the juice boils, simmer for 30 seconds and then take it off the heat, our homemade peach syrup is ready.

    Notes

    Sweetness:
    • Peaches which I have used here were nice ripe and sweet, so ½ cup sugar gave enough sweetness to the iced tea as per our liking. Feel free to increase the sugar as per your taste.
    • You can substitute sugar with stevia, honey, maple syrup, or raw cane sugar.
    Serving:
    • You can keep the peach syrup and brewed tea separate for serving. This way you can make your own drink by deciding how much you would like to add the syrup and tea.
    • Always add fresh peach slices to the serving glasses and not the pitcher. This keeps from making the fruit mushy and tea cloudy in the pitcher
    Storage:
You can prepare the peach syrup or concentrate in a big batch and store in a clean glass bottle. It stays good up-to 2 weeks in the fridge.
