Why You Will Love This Recipe

Summer is here, and with it, oppressive heat and humidity. If you are looking for a new way to quench your never-ending thirst after a day in the sun, look no further than this delicious Ginger Watermelon Strawberry Lemonade.

Free from any additives or preservatives, this yummy and naturally sweet drink is everything I could want from a beverage. It is loaded with good for you nutrients including vitamins A, B6 and C. With just 84 calories a serving, it's also perfectly acceptable for swimsuit season!

The combination of sweet watermelon and strawberries against the tart backdrop of sour lemon makes for a reinvigorating combination. Add some fresh mint and spicy ginger to the mix and you have pure summertime magic.

This great recipe is also super simple to whip together, making it the perfect drink to serve at your next party, barbecue or picnic. Adults and kids alike will go gaga for this ginger infused Watermelon Strawberry Lemonade.

Go grab your blender and meet me in the kitchen. It's time we mix up a batch of the best summer drink you've ever tasted!

    Ingredients

This delightful non-alcoholic beverage requires just a few easy to find ingredients. Here's everything you need:

ingredients to make watermelon strawberry lemonade in small dishes laid out on a grey table

A few notes to consider about the ingredients:

    • Watermelon - When choosing your watermelon, look for a fruit that is heavy for it's size and has dull skin.
    • Strawberry - If fresh strawberries aren't available, feel free to swap in frozen instead! You can also opt to choose whatever berries suit you.
    • Mint - I love the flavor of fresh mint when combined with watermelon. If you want to switch things up, basil would also be delicious!
    • Lemon Juice - Whenever possible, opt for fresh lemons. To get the most juice from your fruit, give them a firm roll on the countertop prior to slicing. You can also play with the flavor of your drink and use lime juice instead! Just note that it will take several more limes than lemons to get enough juice.
    • Honey - Feel free to swap in maple syrup or agave for a vegan version. You can also opt for a natural sugar alternative like monkfruit or stevia if you are worried about added sugars.
    • Ginger - To peel a knob of ginger, put away your veggie peeler and pull out a spoon instead. Trust me!
    • Water - Go for filtered water for the best flavor. If you prefer a sparkling watermelon strawberry lemonade, use just half the water called for in the blending step. After straining and pouring into glasses, top with sparkling water for a bit of fizz!

    FAQs

Can I use frozen strawberries to make this lemonade?

Absolutely! I recommend allowing them to defrost before blending, though, otherwise straining the mixture will be more difficult.

Can I make this strawberry lemonade without ginger and watermelon?

Yes! Take 4 cups fresh strawberries and increase the amount of water, sugar or honey, and follow the same procedure for a more traditional strawberry lemonade recipe.

Is this lemonade low carb and keto friendly?

One serving of this Watermelon Strawberry Lemonade has 22 grams of carbohydrates. If you opt to swap the honey for a sugar free sweetener, that drops down to 13 grams of carbs. To further cut the carb count, I would recommend diluting the mix with a 50/50 split of lemonade and sparkling water for a refreshing spritzer.

    Expert Tips

    • Watermelon Strawberry Lemonade is best served fresh from the blender. If you'd like to get ahead with your preparations, cube the watermelon, hull the strawberries and juice your lemon ahead of time. Then all you have to do is blend and strain!
    • If you are making a big batch of this summer beverage for a gathering, I recommend leaving a spoon or ladle nearby to give it a good stir before serving as it will tend to separate over time.
    • If you'd like more fiber in your beverage, feel free to omit the straining step. It'll be more like a Strawberry Lemonade smoothie, but you'll retain the extra nutrition from the fruit pulp.
    • Feel free to swap in lime juice for the lemon and make yourself a delightful Watermelon Strawberry Limeade instead. Yum!
