In India, sour cream is not easily available, and when its needed the only other option is to make it at home. The only thing is you will have to make it a day before you need it. The process is very simple to follow, mostly buttermilk is added to make the sour cream but you can also use milk with lemon or white vinegar and proceed. Here I have used milk with lemon and the recipe is as followed. You can see it for yourself, how it has come out.
INGREDIENTS:-
Heavy cream……………………………………….400 ml
Milk………………………………………………….. ½ cup(room temperature)
Lemon juice/ white vinegar………………………. 1 tbsp
METHOD:-
Add lemon juice in milk and keep it aside for 10 minutes
Pour the cream in a clean glass jar
Add the milk-lemon mixture in the jar and mix well with cream
Cover the jar with lid and keep it at room temperature for 24 hours
After 24 hours, keep it in the refrigerator overnight
Your tangy, creamy, yummy Sour cream is ready to be used
