  • 2 Sweet Potatoes
  • 1 cup Water

  • Rinse and gently scrub the sweet potatoes under running water.
  • Place the steel pot and switch on the IP. Add 1 cup of water into the pot.
  • Place the trivet or steamer basket and put whole sweet potatoes on top of it.
  • Close the lid and seal the pot with vent in sealing position. Press 'Manual' or 'Pressure Cook' and the set the timer to 18 minutes on high pressure.
  • Once the IP beeps, let the pressure naturally which will take around 10-12 minutes after the beep.
  • Carefully open the pot and take them out using tongs. Let the sit for couple of minutes before serving.
  • If you see, both the potatoes opened up beautifully in the middle while cooking. If it doesn't for you then, give a slit in the middle keeping the ends intact.
  • Mash the potatoes using fork and serve as you like. We love to eat it with butter, salt, pepper and sprinkle of some fresh thyme.

Select the Pressure Cook time as per the size of sweet potatoes you will be using. Please refer to the cooking time as per the size of the potato in the FAQ section of the post.
The amount of water will vary if you are using 8 qt instant pot. So, please use 1.5 cups of water instead of 1 cup.
