Classic Banana Bread
On the blog, today is one of my favourite Bread, and before it’s misinterpreted, Let me tell you it’s actually a Dessert. 😀
Indeed, Bread is a staple food made from combining Flour and Water, turning it into a dough and then baking. But this Classic Banana Bread, regardless been spelled as a Bread can be understood as a sweet baked Bread/Cake as well. Cakes were modifications of breads, however cakes now cover a wide range of preparations that can be simple or tangling, and that allot features to other desserts such as Pastries, Meringues, Custards, and Pies.
Though the ingredients are as typical as every other Bread/Cake, still this Classic Banana Bread possesses some other connection of bliss and joy. The ingredients are basic, Just like how basic the Bananas are..!! But wait..!! I did forget to mention the ingredient behind the tempting flavour of the bread. No, It ain’t a Rocket Science thing but just the ammmaaazing Cinnamon Powder and Lemon Zest. That dramatic aroma of the super moist Banana Bread with it is spellbound, absolutely enticing. It can be had in Breakfast or a High-Tea Snack and can be served to guests as well.
You know what’s the most demanding thing this bread needs…? Guess it out……!!!!

Trust me that long 50 – 60 minutes wait is like waiting for an era to get it baked and consumed. And say it the best or the worst part, It takes hardly few minutes to get the dish wiped off and empty with no more pieces of the banana bread left… Especially if you have kids around..!!!
Both my Kids go crazy as soon as the aroma of the lovely Banana Bread spreads in my house. The Kids be like, “Mummmaaaa, how do you do this…???…….So yummy….this is so delicious Mummaa… Can I have a piece more of it please…”. It makes me so happy but I still have to cautious about their sweet tooth.. LOL..!! Those cravings are totally worth it. Every week this banana bread makes to our tea time with tea/coffee for us and a glass of milk for kids. This recipe is a keeper, must make banana cake.
These slices of heavenly Banana bread went into my kids tiffin boxes and both my kiddos were super happy talking to each other saying, “we will share this yummy cake with our friends, and we will tell them, it was made by our super mom.” Happy and proud me, Alhamdulillah (All Praise for Almighty) 🙂
Anyway, I guess that was enough of description about the Yummy Classic Banana Bread, Let’s quickly turn to the list of ingredients and method.
1 1/2 cup, all-purpose flour (levelled cup)
1/2 cup, butter at room temperature
3 ripened banana, mashed (I have used 3 1/2 for more moisture)
1 cup, castor sugar
3/4 teaspoon, baking powder
1/2 teaspoon, baking soda
2 teaspoon, vanilla essence
1/2 teaspoon, cinnamon powder
1 teaspoon, lemon zest
Preheat the oven at 170 degree. Grease and dust the 9*5 loaf pan. Keep it aside
Sift together, flour, baking powder and baking soda
Cream together, butter and sugar. Add 1egg at a time and whisk for 30 secs after each addition
Add vanilla essence and mashed bananas and mix
Add cinnamon powder and mix
Add 1/2 of the flour mixture and mix well
Add remaining half of the flour mixture and whisk well
Pour the batter in the greased and floured loaf pan
Bake the Banana bread for 55 – 60 minutes or until skewer comes out clean. Allow it to cool for few minutes. Transfer on wire rack and cool completely
Slice it out and serve it with either hot beverages or as a dessert by topping the slice with scoop of ice cream and drizzle of chocolate sauce.
